Please note, route and details are subject to change. SAG support and pit stops are available, but, because of the nature of the event as a volunteer effort, riders are encouraged to be as self-sufficient as possible. I.e., all riders should carry basic tools, be prepared and have the knowledge to fix a flat tire, and carry plenty of water. All participants should also be in good physical shape. Taking advantage of our well planned training program is highly recommended. This will also give you a chance to meet other members of our cycling sangha!

Day 1

On our first day we will meet early at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. An opening ceremony will spiritually fuel us for the 96 mile journey to Cloverdale. Four organized pit stops along the way will provide water, energy drinks, and snacks, along with a little good cheer and words of encouragement.

The route first heads west from Spirit Rock through the hills of West Marin - a couple of GOOD hills in the first 18 miles!

Heading into Sonoma County towards Occidental, we enter the redwoods. Recommended lunch stops (on your own) are in the small town of Occidental or down the road in Guerneville. We travel along the beautiful Russian River from Guerneville and then on to the quiet roads through the vineyards!

A final hill up to the Cloverdale KOA campground ensures that a hot shower and a great dinner will feel very good! Don't forget to check in upon arrival. If you've got some energy to help with dinner prep or other jobs, feel free to sign up!

After dinner, a short evening program and meditation, then early to bed!

Day 2

For those interested, an early morning meditation will begin the day. After breakfast and packing up, riders hit the road. You can pack a small bag to put in the van containing appropriate clothes for our stop at the City of 10,000 Buddhas - our lunch stop. Our route is shorter today, just 52 miles, taking us along the Russian River Valley, north towards Ukiah. Gentle hills are the norm today, as we ride through the oak lands!

We will end at Abhayagiri in the afternoon with a closing ceremony and tour of the monastery. Your friends and family are cordially invited to attend the ceremony. And to give you a ride home! We will also be arranging carpooling.
